On Saturday and Sunday, November 5th & 6th, our guest teacher, Chris Moffett, Ph.D., will show you how he went from numbing leg pain when he sat as a beginning meditator, to being able to stand up easily after meditating, even more spry than when he started. (Hint: it wasn't by learning to detach from the pain...)
Plus, you’ll learn several very common misconceptions that stand in the way of even seasoned meditators, and can totally derail beginners. Then he'll show you what you can do instead to have an effortless sitting practice that you love coming back to.
The strategies Chris will show you work for anyone. It doesn’t matter if you don’t think of yourself as a meditator or if you have given up on sitting cross-legged and sit in a chair. We won’t be talking about bending into pretzels and "mind over matter." Or sitting longer than is easy...

Join us for this workshop on the fundamentals of Meditation Sitting. Whether you are new to meditation, or have been doing it for years, these are the things it is very likely nobody told you...
Instead of just pushing through, you’ll learn:
- The simple strategy for dialing in your ideal cushion height.
- the best positions, and how to take advantage of them.
- What to do if your knees are up in the air, (and what to do if they are cranking into the floor too...)
- How to coordinate your lower back and knees so that you can always find an effortless balanced position.

Take your sitting to the next level, through guided movement lessons that tune up your posture and sensation.
If you would like to build on the principles of the Fundamentals Workshop and take your sitting to the next level, join us for the full Weekend Retreat.
Building on the Workshop, we will focus on critical movement lessons that will allow you to internalize the sensations of effortless, balanced sitting.
Through a series of movement lessons based in the Feldenkrais Method of movement education, you will learn:
- How to feel your tendencies to pull off to your left or right, and how to turn this around to your advantage and find neutral.
- Find an easy upright posture that is neither slumped nor straining.
- How to let your shoulders drape and your arms rest, without collapsing your spine and straining your neck.
- Discover full body breathing and coordinate with your balance so that they work together.
- Learn how to apply all of these principles during your sitting meditation, using attentive scanning to hone your focus and organize your posture more effectively at the same time.
