But first, a bit about this lesson...
The knees are something like flags for your postural integrity: they wind up where makes the most sense given what the body is doing.
So when they are floating in space, it's because they are being pulled there by the rest of you, as you strain to stay upright. And when they are cranked into the floor, they are doing their mighty best to support you in a difficult configuration.
This guided movement lesson lets the rest of you learn from your knees for a change. Allowing your hips, spine, shoulders, head and neck to mobilize allows the knees to be free. Honing these relationships will allow your knees to settle and rest, gently balancing and supporting the rest of you.
If your knees are often uncomfortable, this lesson will give them some breathing room. If your knees are often hanging out in space, this lesson will start to bring them under you in a restful supportive position. But beyond that, you will begin to cultivate intelligent relationships between all the parts of yourself, as you naturally come to a more upright, balanced and easy posture.
- Download the guided movement lesson. (click to stream. right click to save.)
- Find a place where you can sit with your legs long and move freely, and have a meditation cushion nearby.
- The guided meditation is 15 minutes long. If you would like, you can go through it twice, emphasizing leading with your other knee the second time, (but it is not necessary.)
- Notice any differences you feel after the meditation. If you would like you can revisit this lesson on a regular basis, continuing to refine your posture.
- Ask me questions: chris@poisedmeditation.com
- Keep refining. There are always more layers of subtlety in meditation. Keep exploring your posture and comfort, and let me know what you discover...
- If you know people who could benefit from sitting more comfortably, let them know:
Enjoy!
